Dental Veneers, St. John's Dentist

What is a Dental Veneer?

Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that are shaped like teeth and custom-made to match the colour of your smile.

Once they are made, veneers are adhered to the front side of your teeth to improve their appearance and give you a more even-looking smile and improve the symmetry, colour and shape of individual teeth.

If you live in St. John's or the surrounding communities and struggle with gapped, misaligned, discoloured or chipped teeth, contact our dental office today. You can book a consultation with one of our dentists to see if veneers may be the right solution for your smile.

Lumineers®

Lumineers are thin veneers that can be placed with minimal or no changes being made to the natural tooth's structure. At Airport Heights Dental Health Centre, we are proud to offer Lumineers to our patients.

How Veneers Work

To begin, your dentist will file down a little bit of your tooth enamel to make room for the veneers. Once this step is done, impressions will be taken of your teeth, which will then be used to create your custom veneers. Temporary veneers may be placed until your permanent set is ready.

Once your veneers have been created, your dentist will need to clean, polish and etch the surface of your teeth to get them ready. Then, the veneers will be bonded to the fronts of your natural teeth with a special dental cement.

Since your veneers will be custom-made to match your teeth, they will imitate the natural translucency of your enamel and have a very natural look and feel overall.

Features of Veneers

If you are looking to improve the shape of individual teeth or the evenness of your whole smile, dental veneers may offer a less intrusive alternative to dental crowns.

Dental veneers can help to resolve worn, crooked, or discoloured teeth. They can also reduce unwanted spacing and change the size of your teeth.

If cared for properly, dental veneers can last for many years.
