What is a Dental Appliance?

Maintaining good oral health is more than just brushing and flossing. If you play sports, clench or grind your teeth or snore, dental appliances can help preserve and protect your oral structures and contribute to your overall health.

Dental appliances offered at Airport Heights Dental Health Centre – such as mouth guards and sleep appliances – are used to help protect the health of your oral cavity.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Sleep disorders can disrupt your sleep and negatively impact your overall health and well-being.

For patients who snore, your relaxed throat tissues cause the airway to restrict, creating the sound of snoring as oxygen is forced past. For patients with sleep apnea, your throat tissues relax and obstruct the airway, forcing the brain to wake you up to breathe.

At Airport Heights Dental Health Centre, we provide custom-fitted oral appliances to move the lower jaw and tongue muscles to open the airway. This helps improve your flow of breath and may prevent you from waking up throughout the night.

Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards

We offer custom-made mouth guards that fit over your teeth to protect them from damage.

Sports Guards

If you get hit in the mouth during a sports activity, a mouth guard provides a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth to protect your smile.

Night Guards

If you grind your teeth during sleep, a mouth guard will help protect your teeth from damage. If you clench your jaw, a mouth guard may help prevent you from clenching and provide some pain relief.
